Are you actually deficient on iodine, or are you just taking the iodine
because it is supposed to be good for your thyroid? Excess iodine isn't all
that good for your thyroid.

I have been searching for Iodoral at a price I can afford. {censored} charges $50.00 for 180 tablets (180mg). I know this is pretty standard, but I called the company, and found that the wholesale price is $25.00. I've been taking Iodoral for about three months now, and it has changed my life!! I know that probably sounds pretty dramatic, but the changes have indeed been dramatic. Anyway - I know Iodoral is available online for a lot less, but I haven't been able to find out where! HELP!!!
Many thanks...

Is there a specific source for the Lugol's solution you take? How much is equivalent to one iodoral tablet? Are you not concerned about safety? All the solutions I have seen were not for consumption - they were for stainingor fish tanks, or whatever.
Thanks for answering

I have been taking Iodoral. So far my opinion is that it seems to have been a help to my health and I am very happy with it except for one complaint, and that is that it is formulated as a rather hard tablet which seems to be able to easily pass through me without dissolving. My solution is to chew the tablets up. I was taking 3 tablets a day when I started to notice that sometimes they weren't dissolving and I decided to start chewing them up. I wondered if I should reduce {censored} and work back up to 3 chewed tablets a day, but decided that probably most of the tablets were dissolving and that I probably wouldn't get such a large, immediate increase in dose if I chewed up 3 tablets a day. But I was wrong, and after starting to chew them up I got a swift and dramatic healing crisis which was a bit tough to go through but now I'm feeling great and it was probably a good thing, although I wouldn't recommend such a strong healing crisis to a novice who doesn't understand what is happening. My suggestion is that they offer a capsule which is easy to digest. Maybe the tablets could be dissolved in water before taking. I haven't tried that. The problem with the tablets is that the actual dose absorbed from the digestive tract from day to day may vary depending on what you have eaten.

I do not take Idoral, but have the same problem out of topomax with digestion. I too have started chewing the tablets. Hopefully, the Doc will be able to give me a capsule, but until then I will continue to chew the nasty pills. I take other medications even horse pills for arthritis and joint pain. These seem to be the only ones that are insoluble!

The cheapest Iodoral I've found is at breastcancerchoices.org/order $37.95 for 180.
Also, if you buy 5, they are giving away Dr. Brownstein's book for free.

Hi Belinda! I just found your posting about taking 12.5 gm of Iodoral and 5 mcg Cytomel. I just began taking the Iodoral and was considering adding the Cytomel. I see that this was posted over a year ago. Are you still taking these both? If so, what doses & frequency? Most importantly, did they improve your health? I would really appreciate your feedback. It is SO frustrating trying to figure this all out (have had chronic illness for over 8 years now).

I am a relatively healthy 32 year old man and I have no diagnosed health conditions. I have not been diagnosed with hypothyroidism but I have had a number of indications that lead me to believe I may have a problem.

1. Requiring more hours of sleep then is typical.
2. Being fatigued on the weekends or after physical exercise.
3. I am skinny with pale skin.
4. My dentist gave me Prednisone to help with inflammation and it gave me tons of energy (increases cortisone). When I stopped taking it I crashed.
5. I used to drink lots of coffee (affects adrenal system) but it really messed up my metabolism, energy, and sleep cycle.

I started reading that the FDA recommended allowance of iodine is 150 micrograms. This is probably way too low and we could take 100 times that. Many people may be iodine deficient and need more for optimum health. Doctors prescribe hormones when all their patients need is an Iodine supplement. I took 2 pills of 12.5 mg Iodoral and I have tons of energy now.

We get less then 50% of the Iodine people got 50 years ago. Our bodies are polluted with Flouride from water and Bromide from bread dough. Iodine can remove these toxins and cleanse the body including the Pineal gland which is a magnet for Flouride and can become calcified.

The Japanese have the highest intake of Iodine in the world and they have lower rates of cancer, obesity, and longer life spans. This is in spite of all the mercury they ingest from fish. In the U.S. hypothyroidism is on the rise and becoming chronic. 100 years ago Iodine was a miracle medicine and the levels researchers determined we needed were over 7mg/day. The FDA needs to re-examine this but until then we can take supplements like Iodoral or Lugol solution.

There is a lot of information coming out about the type of Iodine taken, the dosages which is believed to be much higher than traditionally thought. On what do you base your statement that too much iodine isn't good for the thyroid? How old is your information? Do you know how the body deals with excess iodine? You pee it out! Come on read the latest and if you are going to take anything be well informed. If it is a nutrient then the main stream medicine is ignorant for the most part. Medicine is starting to come out of the dark ages. Read and be informed.
