I have stop smoking for 2 months now, and that is good, but darn the weight is coming on like gang busters,I was a size 10 and now I am a size 14, I walk daily and exercise, but the weight just keeps coming on. Can anyone help me, please. I have thought about smoking again. This weight is killing me in more way than one. HELP, Please.
Me: Age: 48 Started smoking: age 18 Why?: everyone else did in my class of the commercial school, it was uncool not to smoke at that time. Quantity: 20 plus a day Longest quit: I always pretended it was a 6 months period some 20 years ago, but I think I lied to myself and it wasn't longer than 2 weeks. I drank also a lot of beer at that time, now I'm completely sober of that since 15 years. Thought it was time to get smober too, although I still enjoyed smoking. But my lung felt really not good in the last years, a permanent feeling of beeing asphalted from inside, coughing in the morning, short of breathe, etc. etc. Lapsed: many time in the last 2 years. As a matter of fact I intended to quit already two years ago, and first tried with nicotine chewing gums. A total failure. A couple of months later I tried with nicotine patches, failure again, the craving just didn't go away, 12 smokefree hours were the maximum possible. The final successful quit: 3 weeks, 2 days and 9 hours ago, by cold turkey method. By far the most effective compared to my other trials, and totally free of cost. Craving lasted very strong during the first 4 days, gradually declined the next 10 days, and came back very strong after 2 weeks (I resisted). Now I already almost consider myself as a non-smoker, although the craving is occasionally back, but not so strong as before. I believe I'm strong enough to stay non-smoker this time, it just costed me too much pain to be were I am now, to resume smoking. My lung starts to feel better, but much less quick than I expected. At least I feel already fitter than before, I climb now stairs like a young ape
