| Pleva KLReach 08:03:37 |
| | Hello all...this is my first time posting here, I have been lurking around a couple of days and finally decided to jump in with my question... I found out on Monday that I have PLEVA- also known as Pityriasis Lichenoides et Varioliformis Acuta or Mucha Habermann's Disease. I have searched and searched trying to find someone else with this, or just someone that I can talk with about it.
Anyone out there have any experience with Pleva?? THANK YOU! Weezer

| Trilexan - Pill form melasma treatment Isabel_7667 23:17:07 |
| | I have been on birth control for over 10 years, the melasma on my forehead and cheeks has become darker over the years and is so embarrasing. I bought Trilexan because nothing else has worked and figured it was worth a try and alot less harmful than Amelan, HQ, etc. I am in month two of my cycle and have noticed a significant difference in my appearance. I know this is an ongoing process and expect to see even more dramatic results in the coming months. I will keep you all posted on my progress.

| Pityrosporum Folliculitis Guest 06:37:39 |
| | Hello
I have Pityrosporum Folliculitis for about 3 years. Tried some antibiotics and topical meds when it was first diagnosed as acne with no success. Im 22 y/o.
1. 2 doctors said its caused by me being young, and should pass by age 25. Is this correct? 2. Is it somehow affected by food? I'm eating very healthy food with very low fats. 3. What's the best treatment? seems like i need something 'from the inside out' because they appear on the back & chest but lately seem to take over more and more areas.
Thanks

| Hi 4th Week on Soritaine Whew Wanderer 09:14:21 |
| | Okay I am not going nuts anymore. My scalp has settled down a quite a bit I think, sort of. I am not sure. My hands are peeling on the backs and my feet are peeling just like you said they would. You really are a fortune teller.
I am still flaking and flaking and flaking. It makes baking almost impossible. there is a poem in there somewhere. You know flaking, baking.. today I made an apple crisp with long sleeves and plastic surgery gloves over the cuffs. Very interesting. I always needed and excuse to get outta the kitchen. I got it now. ha ha.
My lips are certainly chapped. I am praying this drug works. Today I don't have much faith. I have my good days and bad days just like you said I would. Some times I think it is better than yesterday and I think I am just fooling myself.
I have already picked up my next session and will see what the next four weeks bring for me.
Hopefully it will be a success 2006 for all of us.
Wanderer..

| | I've ask before but don't remember the answers. What type of suggest, or side effects did folks have with it? I fill my Script today and I'm afraid to use it, with the warning about hair loss and loss of night vision. I drive home from work at 11pm.

| Eczema cure - is there one? Mastadex 20:17:42 |
| | I went to a dermatologist not too long ago with a symptom that caused tiny bubbles of fluid to form on my hands and feet. He said it was a type of eczema and that there is no cure for it, only creams and pills that make it go away temporarly. I did a little research on the internet and i agree with him.
For the time being I stopped eating/drinking milk based products such as butter, milk, cheese, yogurt. Im only on day 6 of my experiment and so far i see no bubbles on my hands. Im wondering if this is just a fluke of me switching over to soymilk/alternatives or does milk actually have something to do with it?
Does anyone here ave any other alternate medication I could try? could eating more citric acid help?
Living without cheese is very hard for me
PS. I still have itchy eczema on my elbows, that has not gone away yet.

| Psoria Gold Ingredients Jim W. 08:33:28 |
| | I am trying to look into the ingredients contained in the Psoria Gold. Google has never heard of diazolinyurea. What is this? I Googled triethanolamine and found some links that address some negative aspects of the use of this in cosmetics. Apparently 40% of the cosmetics on the market use this as an ingredient. http://www.ewg.org/reports/skindeep2/report.php?type=INGREDIENT&id=1084
I suppose with a price of 89 USD for 6 ounces you would go broke before you would see any ill effects.
Thought?

Tetanus Vaccination Lowers Multiple Sclerosis Risk
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Aug 01 - Vaccination for tetanus is associated with a 33% decrease in risk of multiple sclerosis (MS), Boston-based researchers report in the July 25th issue of Neurology. ...
The biologic mechanism by which the tetanus vaccination may protect against MS is unclear, according to the authors. They note, however, that the tetanus toxoid contains a universal human T-helper cell epitope that can bind to a wide range of human MHC class II molecules.
"Vaccination with T helper cell receptor peptides has been shown to shift the T helper cell response from Type 1 (Th1, pro-inflammatory cytokines) to Type 2 (Th2, anti-inflammatory cytokines) by activating regulatory T cells capable of inhibiting myelin reactive T cells," Dr. Hernan's team writes.
"These regulatory T cells recognize processed TCR peptides presented by the MHC class II molecules on the surface of activated Th1 cells, and then can produce Th2-type immunomodulatory cytokines that downregulate the activated Th1 cells as well as other activated myelin reactive Th1 cells within the CNS." ...
Dr. Hernan's team adds that "immunizing with the tetanus toxoid could be a promising approach for the treatment and prevention of MS and other Th1 cell mediated autoimmune disorders."

| P News Randall 20:42:49 |
| | Hi,
Waterloo and the battle for more lePtin in the inflammation process,
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4035849.stm
SePsis or any very small amount of LPS (endotoxin) in the bloodstream needs to be fully understood to end the P waterloo. I'm sure it works in with our genetic pathways to P.
Its nice to know someone somewhere is working on this besides yours truly.
I did do the diet to functionalize my leptin and it didn't slow down the curse of P much. At the same time though, i took CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) supplements and they flared me good.
My feelings at the time was, the CLA would energize me and the more prominent lePtin would negate the flare effects of the P.
And obvious winner is to do a leptin diet and avoid the high arachidonic acid foods and suPPlements (CLA).
There is a book to work this leptin plan. I'll provide a link for those so inclined.

| Enzymes Manfred 08:46:07 |
| | I just came accross this at http://www.healthtalk.com/psoriasis/programs/11_378/page03.cfm Anyone here still using digestive enzymes? Anything positive to report?
Dr. Neuzil: There are a few things that I've found that are really helpful. One of the most helpful for people with really high inflammation, obviously the fish oil supplement, but outside of that something like a proteolytic enzyme, which is an enzyme that you take on an empty stomach that actually goes into your bloodstream whole and digests inflammatory particles [is also helpful]. The most common one out on the market is Wobenzym. There's also a great one called Vitalzyme.
Marcie: How much of this do you need to take?
Dr. Neuzil: The Vitalzyme, I typically recommend three capsules twice a day. The Wobenzym is a little bit higher dose, usually six to nine capsules twice a day.
Marcie: But it's the same enzyme?
Dr. Neuzil: It's the same enzyme. The Vitalzyme has a little bit stronger action.
Dr. Neuzil also recomends Chromium picolinate, Selenium, Zinc and avoiding Vitamin C, biotin and ginseng because they stimulate cyclic GMP in the body. They've found that in psoriasis the ratio of cyclic AMP to cyclic GMP is abnormal, which basically affects the inflammation cascade and the ways the skin is processed.

| Re: Methotrexate Raydon14yp 19:40:28 |
| | After many years of suffering with p & treating externally with steroid creams, including occlusive dressings, and at times nearly 80% p lesions, & after taking about 6 months to decide whether to go on mtx, I did go on it nearly 15 years ago. I take 15mg orally, weekly. I have blood tests every 3 months to check liver enzymes. I have had almost a 95% clearing of p lesions. Occasionally, I will have GI upset from the MTX, but find if I take it after a full meal & try to stay mentally & physically active during the day, usually know side effects. I do imbibe in a very small amount of alcohol almost daily. I am 76 years old & my life is almost as normal as it was before the p, which started when I was 22 yrs. old. I also have been on Embrel for nearly 5 years. I have tried at times to cut back on the MTX, but the lesions start reappearing rapidly. So, if you are not getting results yet, & not having bad side effects, stay on the MTX.
