Protocel - crap or not?

Skeptikal 7 June 2008 11:46:51
 Hey guys,

What about this Protocel stuff? They have a fairly convincing website
and supposedly it helps MS. It was discussed here once in 2000 but you
guys didn't say anything conclusive.

http://alternativecancer.us/protocel.htm

What do you guys think now? I want to hear the scientific view not
subjective opinions.

Thanks,
Tony

 Bah, bunches of hooey.

While it may have some benefit in certain diseases I doubt it has ANY
scientific benefit. Why don't you go and look for scientific studies
yourself.

Drugs that claim to treat many many many types of diseases are usually a
pile of doggie doo-doo.

i don't know why you say it's a fairly convincing website -- they list
a bunch of diseases, everything from cancer to herpes to AIDS to 'all
pet conditions' -- !!! -- that this is effective with; they list the
ingredients in a confusing manner, and the ONLY 'scientific testing'
they tout that proves the anti-oxidant effect, was conducted BY the
manufacturers of protocel. 'a prominent cancer patient who wishes to
remain nameless,' and other anecdotal 'evidence' seems to constitute
their 'miraculous proof.'

the page you gave has a bunch of stuff about cancer. when one clicks
on 'other conditions,' this is what you get --

"Other Diseases, AIDS, Herpes...

Protocel has been effective against viruses including AIDS, Herpes (see
below), Chronic Fatigue syndrome, lupus, endimetriosis, Crohn's
disease, fibromyalgia, almost all auto-immune disease, and has some
success treating: ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), Multiple Sclerosis,
Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Leukemia, Rheumatoid
Arthritis, and Scleroderma. Information about these diseases and
Protocel will be added as I continue my research. I don't have any more
information on the above diseases that don't have a link, please
contact HOPE for more information"

the only ones with links were AIDS, Herpes, colds and 'flue'. they all
said basically the same thing, other than the AIDS link.

the reason people aren't discussing the science is because there IS no
science at the site.

theyve got 2 different formulas, each of which has a long list of
'diseases and conditions' the 2 formulas supposedly work best with. you
cant' take a bunch of things because they 'interfere with the
effectiveness' -- vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, flax seed oil, etc.

it's another miracle cure for everything, being suppressed by a vast
conspiracy of greed and apparently the desire to see people suffer.
yadda, yadda. if it was a miracle cure, the pharma-co's seem more
likely to be lining up trying to buy the right to it on the cheap, than
spending zillions of dollars suppressing the research.

i'd suggest sugar water as an alternative, but the site says that sugar
also renders protocel inactive, but they suggest honey as a fine
alternative. spoonful of honey in the water would be cheaper.

This is not crap. It's too bad you all aren't trying to contact people who have actually used this product for MS. We use it for my son's ulcerative colitis, an autoimmune disease, and it's been instrumental in obtaining his remission. It's antifunal, anti paritsitic and anti-viral. There are a number of people willing to answer questions on the protocel user forum about its use in any of these diseases.

My husband is currently using this to treat his MS. He has been on it for 2 months and the results so far have been positive. He will likely continue for much longer to see what Protocel can do to remedy this disease.

I also understand the concersn about something sounding like a cure-all for everything - sort of sounds like snake oil. Bu if you understand what makes anearobic cells unhealthy and how Protocel works, it makes perfect sense.

The claims for other diseases probably spring from the gag on Protocel being able to claim that it may cure cancer. There is abundant testimonial evidence that it does so, but the NCI are reputed to have deliberately suppressed it. The FDA actively sought to prevent its production and distribution, and succeeded for many years. No doctor can recommend it without potentially losing their licence, even though many know of its efficacy.

In terms of MS, Protocel may work to rebuild myelin sheaths.

It really should be properly studied but the NCI and drug companies will always work to prevent this from happening, while continually testing profitable substances that are heavily toxic and have comparatively little benefit.

all i can say is that protocell saved my life, and i am really angry that our governments continue to supress this life saving information! I am a mother of 4 who was on my death bed at 37 years of age, with type 1 diabetes, pancreatitis, ulcerative colitis, crohns, rhuematiod athritis, chronic fatigue, hormonal shut down, anxiety, depression and a host of other wierd and wonderful auto immune and immune deficient tags that doctors threw at me. i had seen myriads of specialists, natropaths and doctors and had many tests, scans etc. etc. they could not find why my body had suddenly shut down. i was lucky enough to discover protocel and after 6 months in bed i was out gardening within 2 days (no I am not exaggerating). They still don't know what is wrong with me and on the few occasions i have let myself run out of protocel my body slides back into it's decline. this stuff is keeping me alive and as long as i keep taking it i am 100% well. The only thing you're losing by trying protocel is money, and you could save your life! good luck, Jen

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December and had a lumpectomy in January. I was told I needed to have chemo and radiation or my chances of surviving were pretty grim. Prior to getting ready for chemo, they found additional tumors on my ovary and I had elevated CA-125 results which were a strong suggestion of ovarian cancer as well.

I declined the chemo, the radiation, and the additional sugery. I started on Protocel.

I have been on Protocel for 3 months. Last month, my cancer marker tests for breast and ovarian cancer all came back normal - no detectable cancer. The scar tissues from my lumpectomy is virtuall all gone. The tumors on my ovary are also now ALL gone - only a small cyst remains.

I have had no treatment other than the Protocel since my lumpectomy. Even my doctor (who thought I was a bit looney for my decisino) is amazed.

In terms of Protocel working, it takes different lengths of time based on the person (their type of cancer, the grade, etc.). However, I have been nothing but pleased with my progress; it has been much quicker than I expected.

So, for all the bah humbugs, I was one of you before Protocel. LOL It doesn't bother me what people think about this treatment. I can tell you though that the proof is in the pudding. My health, the dissolution of my tumors, and my tumor marker results all show the same evidence - Protocel has worked for me.

I cannot speak with what other diseases this may cure. I only had cancer, and it has been true to its claims for that.
