My! But you WERE here during some heated days!
It was nearly impossible *not* to be caught up in the middle of THAT massive flame fest.
I'm sorry that your timing was such that you were unable to find much as far as help or a topic to contribute your experiences to as well.
I trust it was only the times, and sincerely trust that this time around will be better for you.
Already, with just this post, you've ended untold posts of "who said what to whom first.". When I say "untold", I mean it could have been in the hudreds...or two, one simply never knows, but I'd bet on the former.
There should be plenty of room now for you to jump right in with any experiences, questions, or news you wish to share. Please do !
Thanks for remembering THIS one!
I do sincerely wish you a much better experience, and look forward to seeing your posts!

| Odd Headache experience on the 10th. Mike Berkowitz 10:20:06 |
| | I ended up in the emergency room with heart rate: 114 BP: 198/110. Sharp feeling all over feeling I was going to faint. ER said it was not related to HA or Heart but GI. Next day I could not urinate, ended up in urgent care getting a catheter. I also had trouble doing #2. Catheter came out today and all seems normal. It all started with nausea and a headache I treated with morphine sulphate and Advil, normal doses. I do not really think it had anything to do with GI tract.
It knocked me off my feet until today! Any clues?

| | ZombyWoof; Yeah I had been sitting in an office overhearing a woman getting extremely upset because the Dr. wanted a urinealysis because he recieved a phone call from someone stating she was not taking them but selling them, and even though i have no idea what the results were i did overhear that she was not to come back to his office, she had a freind with her whom she was talking to (otherwise i wouldn't have heard a thing). but she was trying to defend herself saying she ran out early and she really was taking them , so who knows. Yes, I'm ashamed! I was eavesdropping, but many pain management doctors due random UAs on thier patients , Including myself. I don't mind it, I think it's a good idea, but i can't help but wonder if some of the crooked docs just do it cuz the more people that sell meds on the street, the less patients are visiting there offices. But I know my doc is one of the good guys, I hope all is well with you, Take care -TALULA

| Lower Leg Pain...Anyone else have this scenario? RBrummond@gmail.com 06:15:41 |
| | I started with like a cramping/burning sensation in my right lower leg about three years ago. I would notice the pain would start after I awoke in the morning and started to walk around. I would end up walking on just the ball of my foot as it was very painful to walk normally. After about 10 to 15 steps the back of my leg would 'loosen up' and I could walk normally again but it would still be painful. Now I have classic sciatica symptoms and minor lower back pain.
I started with physical therapy and was then referred to an orthopedic surgeon who requested that I have an MRI done of my lower leg. The radiology report came back normal but the doc seemed to think I might have some tangling or a small burr on one of my nerves. So I went in for surgery and he told my husband that he removed a small burr from one of my nerves. I was in a walking boot for about three weeks and everything seemed to be better....Until I took the boot off and the pain was back, just the same. He referred my back to physical therapy.
I next went to a neurologist who had an MRI done of my back along with EMG and Nerve Conduction studies. All tests came back normal and I was referred to physical therapy again.
I have oxycontin for the pain and physical therapy is a joke. I am waiting for a referral to our university hospital but would like any input anybody might have. I am 36 years old without any other health problems.

| Stepped on a Cigarrette?? Robin 05:21:41 |
| | Hi everyone. I hope someone here can help me figure this one out...
I have had chronic low back pain for about 20 years, 2 surgeries, nerve root repair and a foot drop as a result of the surgery. My problem is this. This evening, while standing in my kitchen, I got a searing, burning pain in the instep of my foot that has the foot drop. It felt exactly like I had stepped on a lit cigarette. The feeling lasted about 15 minutes and was accompanied by a cramping feeling in the back of my leg. Does anyone know what this could be? Has anyone had this happen to them before? Thanks, Robin

| Question about Cymbalta and Lidoderm patches Robin 21:18:11 |
| | I just came back from my pain doc. I talked to her about my feelings about our last visit where I refused the facet injections. I felt like she was upset about my refusal to have the shots and that it was causing her to think all I wanted was drugs. I wanted to "clear the air" so to speak because I really do like her and want to make sure we are on the same page.
Anyway, things went very well. She completely understood my feelings and explained that she didn't mean to make me feel uneasy or bad. I then read my notes to her that I had prepared for my visit. I don't speak very well so I have to write things down so I remember everything I want to say. When I was finished, she told me she wanted to start me on Cymbalta. I think it's for depression? If so, I agree with her that I am getting depressed.
I also asked her about my trip that I have coming up (6 hours in a car) I asked her if she had any advice for me. She gave me some Lidoderm patches. I think they are like novacaine(sp) for the skin?
Does anyone take/use either of these? If so, what can I expect so far as side effects/pain relief?
Thanks, Robin

| Seeking chronic pain support group in suburban Maryland or DC Steven O . 21:18:11 |
| | Due to a whiplash injury which has resulted in chronic back/neck pain (among other symptoms), I am exploring various relatively invasive treatment options.
I'd like to find a chronic-pain or back injury support group in DC or suburban Maryland (i.e., Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg, etc.) where I might meet with other people with similar experiences. Surprisingly, hunting both the Web and local classified ads has failed to turn up anything. Can anyone tell me if you know of such groups, and how I might contact them or find out where they meet?

| | Hi,
about to go to jamaica for a little vacation... and I know codeine w/ apap or aspirin is otc in canada and the uk.... and jamaica is a former colony... so is codeine w/ ??? available otc in jamaica?
if so I'd just carry 1 or 2 real vicodin and use a couple of 222's or similar for pain issues while there and save my limited supply here in the states.

| Nerve Damage-after surgery pain Hoosier 10:51:42 |
| | New to your group. I am hoping to find someone who has had the same condition who can tell me more about how long the pain lasts and if there are any ways to alleviate it. I had laminectomy 6/1 and was told there was a bone spur which had caused a kink in the nerve and blood was not getting through as it should. After surgery I am in more pain than before. PA said it could last as long as a year. I cannot take anything stronger than Darvocet 100 and am taking Lyric for the leg pain, but they do not help much. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had this problem and give me any information. Thanks. PD
