	Dear Joan, The unfortunate truth behind any medication used for pain, be it a true narcotic pain med or an antidepressant pretending to be a painkiller, is that you are the only one that can judge the effects good or ill. I saw someone gave you a link on Lyrica, you should give it a good look, especially the negative side effects, and then take it and see what happens. Don't be discouraged that it's not an honest to god what you may consider a pain reliever, there are pains that do not respond well to those kinds of drugs either, so you have just as good a chance of Lyrica helping you as morphine. Just don't settle for minor relief and if it's actions are not adequate, do not hesitate to contact your doc and tell him it's not cutting it. 	I've been on it for a month now....started at 150mgs twice a day, Doc has since raised it to 300 mgs twice a day. Can't really tell if it is helping or not. I was on Neurontin which did help, however it caused some ungodly sweating... Mike

I had been on Neurontin for about 4 years, 3200mg a day. The side effects weren't too bad, except for, as you said, the constant sweating and I was tired all the time. Anyway, after 4 years it was starting to get to the point where it wasn't as effective anymore so my doc put me on Lyrica. He did say it would take 2-3 weeks before I'd get the full effects of it. 	Hi there Joan. The neruologis put me on Lyrica 50mg. 3 times a day. I thought I had found the wonder drug. I am 71 ys. and with the medication I felt like I was 20 yrs. I moved the funiture around in the living room including the tv. Worked out side and created a new yard. I was using sample pills given me, until my insurance said it would cover it. When I ran out they gave me 75mg. to use because thats what I was origanilly suppose to take. Bad idea. I found I could't drive a car. Was very confused, memorie was imparied, gained 5 lbs. and begain swelling in my legs. I have only one kidney and found it can cause kidney calculus. I am off the meds. now last pill was last night at bed time. My problem is caused from a car accident. I have a pinched nerve in my neck causing me many problems. Pain in lower back and on my right side. I would rather suffer the pain than get another problem. I have been on the meds. for 6 wks. God Bless this is only my story. Enid
