i have been on lyricia for about 2years now and it has been helping . it makes my head swim and makes me off balance but i would rather have that than the pain.\
Great drug for nerve related pain... I have DDD and am waiting for the new disks to be FDA approved. I also take codeine. But the cymbolta has made a huge reduction in my pain. Altho there are side effects (kinda sleepy sometimes) and you will yawn alot at first.... It's definitely worth trying it. Stick with it at least a 10 days tho. Jim in san diego
Hello Friend!! I'm going through the same problem right now. I am 29 yrs old & I am a graphic artist which forces me sit in front of a computer for about 6 to 8 hours a day. Therapy has relieved my pain but their telling me that eventually I'll have to have surgery. My pain is in my neck & shoulder. I've been dealing with this now for about 7 months. I have been getting depressed as well because of this & don't know what else to do. One thing that I have found to help me get through my day is Lidocane patches. Ask your doctor about them. Well I know exactly how you feel so good luck with your pain.
Hey Jim- This is my first time finding a discussion between patients about pain control. Feels better knowing there's others out there. I've got one of those severe backs that's too bad to even operate on. Been on I think all of the pain drugs over the last 3 years. Within a week of taking a drug I seem to get used to it and it stops working. But about your worry about withdrawal from methadone: My doc was trying different meds every two weeks and started with methadone. It wasn't working and I quickly finished a months worth in two weeks. My docs office won't even give him a message to call me. But I've been on and off this methadone for months. When I ran out of the drug I was simply out. It's been over a week now, the only med I'm on is 100mcg fenytl patch and I'm not withdrawing. A little {censored}, feel weak but no true withdrawal. My appt. is in two days I'm sure since I didn't take the methadone as prescribed he'll pass me on to the next doc. A thought on the patches - you don't feel anything from them, but if you accidently forget to change one - the pain comes back with a vengence. So in a sneaky sort of way they do help, give them a try.
Well could it be that when Abott bought Dilauded from Knoll 2003/04 ( fast acting hydromorphone which also = more addiction liability via more product needed dayly to achieve same result ) Abott is an American co, Perdue isn' t and has the better product...slow acting = less product needed daylyneed I say more ? Remember the boycott of L-Tryptophan a while ago ? a wonderful natural antidepressant I still take occasionally when needed on grey days . As usual a bunch of drunk cowboys wanting to dictate their drug of choice " alchool! I also wonder why in the US Palladone was marketed with the lowest tablets starting at 16 mg, a huge dosage! in Europe it starts at 4 mg and up.
Does anyone know of any abs exercises that sufferers of DDD can do? I am in a fairly advance level of this disorder (10 disks gone 4 new ones starting to go) and I want to tighen up the muscles in my abs.
Funny thing is that most abortions are coerced (the woman is pressured into the decision by a boyfriend, husband, parents, etc etc) and that for this reason it is unfair to compare assisted suicide to abortion. Besides, abortion is the taking of another life. Suicide is the taking of one's own life. Two VERY different things. It's strange that abortion is legal almost everywhere but us poor souls are not allowed to buy Nembutal or Seconal so we can put and end to unbearable pain if we happen to be unfortunate enough to suffer from cancer or other horrible debilitating illnesses.
Concierge practices are also called "retainer", "boutique" and "membership" practices, and usually charge a monthly or annual fee, ranging from as little as $40 per month to as much as $20,000 a year. They vary widely in terms of what their "extras" are compared to traditional medicine, with some emphasizing amenities, access and availability with traditional diagnosis and treatment, while others emphasize proactive health maintenance and improvement efforts that can reduce the need for diagnosis and treatment. Some say these practices are the wave of the future, while others argue they are illegal, immoral, unethical, or unlikely to spread or survive. It seems likely they will grow, however, since some have proven to save money for insurers and employers, and they are very popular with physicians and patients involved.
Do not whatever you do have a spinal fusion! i had a spinal fusion on L4-L5 last July and was very confidently told by my Surgeon that i would return to my normal lifestyle that generally involved playing football (or soccer as you guys call it) and going to pubs/ clubs on the weekend. I had had a back problem for a while and been in chronic pain for about a year with it, but there is not a day that passes where i don't regret the op. it has been a nightmare and has not worked in the slightest. on pills now and treatment for depression. try everything in the book and avoid surgery at all costs. the truth is the so called 'experts' do not have a clue how the back works. i wish you all the luck in the world because back pain is hell on earth, and those that don't have it haven't got a clue Good Luck
