Gunnell fought tears before her guilty verdict for murder was read first. All four women burst into tears and she yelled "I can't believe this, man!" Deputies restrained her in her chair as she howled "Why? Why? Why?" Then, she repeated, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Order in the courtroom deteriorated as their family members became enraged and began yelling.
As the chaos escalated, Judge Doug Rastatter cleared the family members and the jury from the courtroom.
"We've all got kids. My baby is 1. We did not mean for this to happen. It was an accident," Gunnell pleaded.
Four Columbus women have been found guilty in the death of a Springfield man who was killed when their car hit him at a mall.
Mahogany Patterson, Renada Manns, Toneisha Gunnell and Alicia McAlmont were found guilty Friday of murder, aggravated robbery, theft and involuntary manslaughter.
In June, the women stole clothing from Macy's and were speeding away from the mall when they hit John Deselem as he stepped off the sidewalk.
They face 15 or 25 years to life in prison. The women cried and screamed as the verdicts were read. Gunnell's attorney says he will appeal the decision.
