 Cyclert vs Concerta Vs adderall

Pro's Cons?

The Good the Bad the Ugly?

I really want something that lasts about 16 hours in one dose.

Thanks!

It is cylert, or pemoline, and it is well proven that there are problems
with hepatic toxicity. Another problem is that it takes weeks sometimes for
a therapuetic response to kick in.

If you find it it's probably not going to be any of those, but it's unlikely
that you're going to find an ADHD med that works 16 hours on a single does.
OTOH, different people respond differently, so who knows, maybe a half of
the smallest Ritalin tablet will last you for a week. You won't know until
you've tried them all.
Thanks!>

What is the half life on adderall?

what is the halflife on concerta?

What do the curves look like for mean plasma concentrations?

I classify it as a desperation medication, if, in your desperation you can
wait a month.

Remember what Einstein said, 5 minutes is perceived differently depending on
which side of the bathroom door you are.

"Half life" for those meds isn't simple. Adderall is a combination of four
different active ingredients with different half-lives. Concerta is
methylphenidate in an osmotic-release delivery system that sustains a more
or less constant release level until the capsule is empty.

But in the real world the laboratory numbers don't mean much--individual
response varies all over the place.

It's like any statistically derived figure. A sample of people have
differing clearance rates, we measure them, and take the median figure. But
around the median there's a distribution of response, so some people take
longer to clear half the medication, and a few people take a lot longer.
Same thing on the short clearance time part of the curve. You don't know in
advance whether you're going to be a fast or slow metabolizer until you
actually try the drug, though you can take an educated guess if you've taken
other drugs in the same class before.

Me, I'm a ridiculously slow metabolizer of stimulants, so one
non-time-release Adderall lasts me all day, and sometimes a bit longer
besides. For me *any* stimulant, caffiene included, will last 16 hours or
longer. I still tell the story of my first, and only, Adderall XR - I was
like the Energizer Bunny (keeps going, and going) for three days! Other
people go through Adderall in four or five hours.

So when people say YMMV when it comes to ADD meds, it's really true. You
don't know which med will work, or how long it will work, until you actually
try it. So relax, buckle in, and give whatever the doc wants to prescribe a
try. Some people find the right med on the first try, some people have to
try several before they find one that works, and whose side effects they can
live with.

Ive tried them all and I think Adderall XR (for me) worked the best. The biggest problem I noticed with the amphetamines was the "come down" and it is much less noticable with the adderall than with dextroamphetamine (for me at least) I have been on the same dose of adderall XR for nearly 8 years without increasing it (20mg a day) which is relatively low for someone my weight (~185lbs). I built up a tolerance fast to dextroamphetamines and I refuse to increase the dose.
